The town of Roccaporena is famous in the world as the birthplace of St. Rita, who was born here in 1381. Roccaporena is 707 m a.s.l. Its importance has been raised by the life and deeds of St. Rita, and has steel remains of the medieval settlement. The "Rock of St. Rita", with its 120 m height, overlooks the town.

It is located on the top of an imposing rock pyramid, where St. Rita used to withdraw to pray, and where the Saint would have left the prints of her knees and elbows; from there she would have been taken by Protector Saints.

In the town, it is still possible to visit St. Rita's house and the Garden where the miracle of the rose and figs occurred. It is worth visiting the Church dedicated to St. Rita, built in 1948, and the Church of St. Montano, where she married Paolo di Ferdinando and her husband and children were buried.
